Floral Preservation

There’s something romantic and timeless about flowers preserved in resin. Plants in their nature are so temporary, passing from spring to winter, leaving only wilted petals and frost-bitten stocks. This artwork interrupts the flow of time and captures the delicate beauty of a season of flowers; a season of life.

Grown from seed in a small home garden, these plants are lovingly tended and coaxed to their utmost splendor. In order to retain their colour and form, they are then dried in silica, before finding their way into this artwork. Epoxy resin dyed with black acrylic ink is poured over the arrangement in layers – many, many layers. With only the uppermost leaves emerging from the cured resin, the pieces are sanded and shaped. The legs of the tables are sunk in resin. The epoxy dust is scratched out of the crevices with a painter’s knife. Finally, finally, the topcoat. A tabletop resin, crystal clear, breathes life back into the flowers.

I am currently accepting limited floral commissions. I would love to work with you to preserve your wedding bouquet; your garden.
